The School
Curriculum
No longer is teaching a one-way process where the teacher teaches and the student is a silent listener. We, at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE), strive to bring in diversity in the methodology of teaching by using different ways and means of imparting knowledge. Theoretical knowledge is a must, but it is further enhanced by contemporary teaching methods which give the students a deeper insight into the matter under discussion.
Simulating Situations : Role-plays, debates or working on artificial models, animated skits based on topics, makes understanding concepts easier, leading to better assimilation of knowledge.
Group Discussions: Active participation of students keeps their interest alive through practice in public speaking and hence building their self-confidence. Teachers take on the responsibility of giving shape to any discussion and summarizing the vital points.
Visual Aids : Power Point Presentations facilitate the teaching process. Explanations come alive, giving an indepth approach to teaching hence leading to better understanding in students.
Internet Facility : The ‘websites’ are very popular with students. Research for project work can be done on the spot, or references can be accessed for other activities like debates, literary discussions or likewise.
Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) Library : Fully equipped to meet the needs of the students as well as teachers, it develops a deep love for reading, thus creating good reading habits in students, leading to creativity at work. Teachers too have scope to increase their knowledge leading to better teaching skills.
Hand-on Projects : Students accomplish a great deal more by activity based concepts which lead to a better and relevant understanding. Students are a part of the learning process and not just spectators, forcing them to think for themselves in interpreting data.
Field trips, workshops, community service : It basically sensitizes the child towards the needs of society, thus inculcating the spirit of social service.
Collaborative LearningWorkshops for Teachers:
‘Change the Classroom. Change the Society.’
benchmarking the best teaching strategies of the 21st century.
adopting comprehensive and continuous evaluation by Formative and Summative Assessments.
carrying out research material for young minds.
kindling the ‘Light of Learning’ through effective lesson plans
Circle Time : Allowing the children to express themselves freely, helping
the teacher focus more intently on the emotions of the child.
An old proverb says that, given a fish, one can eat for a day; taught to fish, one can eat for a lifetime. Effective teaching is the same…. it enables students to be aware of their surroundings and increases their thirst for knowledge and the skills to imbibe what is best for them- an ultimate goal that Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (proposed ICSE) endeavours to achieve!
