Millet Magic

Under the able guidance of the principal, Dr. Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat, the science teachers of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) have come up with a science club named “Scienceporium”.

Keeping with the United Nations Theme for the year 2023, “International Year of Millets”, the students of grade VI to VIII celebrated the significance of the crop ‘millet’ in an innovative way.

The students were given information on the topic and were briefed about the importance of millets through a Power Point Presentation. They were then divided into groups and were asked to gather information about the millet (Ragi, Bajra, Rajgiri and Vari). They were made to prepare a simple recipe on any one millet of their choice and share it with their peers. Students shared their recipes and presented colourful charts on their respective topics. They enthusiastically participated in the activity and enjoyed the delectable food made from millets. 

The objective of the activity was to bring awareness of local, yet nutritious food which can benefit us and can be easily added to our diet. The students even understood the importance of a balanced diet and eating healthy food. They pledged to have millets at least once in a month to lead a healthy and a sustainable life.
