A Transformative Journey: Five Bagless Days at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE)

Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) embarked on a remarkable educational endeavour by organising a five  “Bagless Days” event for students of Grades VI to X from 21st to 25th August, 2023. This was conducted under the guidelines of the NEP 2020. Carrying these large school bags has been a challenging topic in all educational circles for years. Therefore, the Indian government addressed this concern in the new National Education Policy 2020 emphasizing the importance of programmes like “bagless day,” “vocational courses,” and “vocational crafts” for our kids’ overall development. The NEP aims to promote a variety of enrichment activities including quizzes, athletics, financial literacy, and vocational crafts.

The five Bagless Days at PTV (ICSE) witnessed a diverse range of engaging workshops and activities tailored to the various grade levels. Each grade participated in activities designed to enhance their skills, knowledge, and awareness.

The Principal, Dr. Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat emphasized the importance of such innovative approaches in modern education, approaches in the development of soft skills, such as aesthetic values, cooperation, teamwork, use of raw materials, creativity, quality consciousness, etc. This initiative by PTV(ICSE) stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to providing students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond textbooks and classrooms. promoted for a variety of enrichment activities.

The activities included the following:

Paper Mache, Khari Kamai, Financial Literacy Workshop, Movie Screening – “Let’s Change” on Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, Workshop on Emotional Regulation, Cybercrime Workshop, Social Media Security Symposium by Vile Parle Police, Card Making Activity for Jai Jawans, Workshop on ‘Health is Wealth’, Nutritious and Delicious Eating Activity, Workshop on Decision-Making Skills, Paper Designing and Paper Bag Making, Pottery Making, Workshop on Etiquette and Manners by Speech and Drama Department

The Bagless Day event at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya ICSE School was a resounding success, offering students a well-rounded experience that encompassed academics, creativity, life skills, and societal awareness.
