Embracing Independence: A Tribute to our Nation
The 77th Independence Day was celebrated in Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) by the students of the primary and secondary section with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Our esteemed school witnessed the proud moment of the Indian Flag gracefully getting hoisted by our school principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Arnavaz Bhagat, symbolizing the sacrifices made by our forefathers to secure our nation’s sovereignty. Adding to the charm of this special day, our talented band students showcased their musical brilliance which evoked a sense of patriotism that ran deep within us.
In the presence of a gleeful gathering, the secondary section conducted a special assembly in the school auditorium, commemorating the struggles of our great nation. Our respected principal, Dr. Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of understanding our history, embracing diversity, and contributing positively to our society. Our principal’s words inspired us to be responsible citizens and agents of positive change. This was followed by a school choir which enthralled us with a soul stirring patriotic song. Student representatives of the secondary section delivered eloquent speeches in English and Hindi respectively sharing the significance of Independence Day, the sacrifices made by countless unsung heroes and the responsibility we have towards our nation’s progress. The secondary section event came to a close by a vibrant and energetic dance performance depicting the rich cultural tapestry of our nation. Grade I and II students were shown a PPT to explain the significance of Independence Day and the achievements of India in the global front, followed by a quiz. While the students of Grade I were engaged in making tricolour flowers using origami paper, Grade II students made soldiers using candy stick and paper in tricolour. Students also solved an activity worksheet on Independence Day which included word search and word scramble to enhance their knowledge about nation.
The mass assembly for Grade III – V started with the school prayers followed by the National Anthem, Rajya Geet and Pledge. The Principal then addressed the students on how important this day of Independence is to all of us and how the students as young citizens of this democratic country should feel proud of our developing nation. A cultural program followed that included a powerful Hindi speech, a dynamic dance performance, and an English skit with a message to gain independence from colonial mindset.
