From the Soil, For the Soul – A Tribute to Independence Day
The History Club of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) marked the spirit of Independence Day with a unique initiative titled “From the Soil, For the Soul – Indian Traditional Thirst Quenchers.”
Moving away from aerated drinks and artificial mixes, the Club showcased India’s own swadeshi beverages—refreshing, wholesome, and deeply rooted in tradition. Students highlighted the health benefits and cultural significance of drinks such as kokum juice, tulsi ginger cooler, panakam, sattu, gokarna and jaljeera. Each of these time-honoured recipes not only quenches thirst but also carries forward the wellness wisdom of generations past.
The event served as a reminder that celebrating freedom also means valuing our heritage, choosing healthier lifestyles, and taking pride in what is truly our own. With every sip of these traditional coolers, the students paid a heartfelt tribute to India’s independence—refreshing both body and soul.
