PTV ICSE’s Grade 7’s weekly Activity Class

In PTV ICSE’s Grade 7’s weekly Activity class, students embarked on a multifaceted journey combining hands-on exploration, creative expression, and vocabulary development—all through the delightful challenge of crafting Haiku and Limerick poems.

Students began with Haiku, the traditional Japanese three-line form. Guided by the classic 5‑7‑5 syllable structure, they embarked on sensory walks , collecting vivid words—rustling leaves, morning dew, summer breeze—that sparked imagery.

Next they explored Limericks, playing with A‑A‑B‑B‑A rhyme and brisk rhythm. The students analyzed classic examples to identify rhyme, meter, and punchline structure by recollecting the Nursery Rhymes they learnt in Pre- school. Then they brainstormed humorous vocabulary and scenarios—wild animals and school life mishaps

Throughout both units, emphasis was placed on figurative language—introducing terms like metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia in Haiku, and hyperbole, idiom, pun in Limericks.
