Spreading Awareness : Cyber Crime Workshop

Spreading Awareness : Cyber Crime Workshop

With the increasing use of smartphones, social media, online gaming, digital payment platforms and various internet-based applications, awareness about cyber safety has become an essential aspect of students’ education. Keeping this need in mind, Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) organised a Cyber Crime Awareness Workshop for the students of Classes VIII, IX and X.

The workshop began with an introduction to the importance of cyber safety and digital responsibility in today’s technology-driven environment. The resource persons,Mrs.Suvarna Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Cell, Mumbai Police and Mr. Rajesh Khushlani, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Cyber Cell, Mumbai Police, interacted with the students and explained that although the internet provides numerous opportunities for learning, communication and entertainment, careless or uninformed use of digital platforms can expose individuals to serious risks.  Real-life situations and examples were used to help students understand how cyber frauds and online crimes may occur and how seemingly harmless actions can sometimes lead to serious consequences.

A significant part of the session focused on practical precautions that students should follow while using digital devices and online platforms. Students were encouraged to follow the principle of “Think Before You Click, Share or Respond.”

The workshop was thus a meaningful step towards promoting cyber awareness, digital responsibility and safe internet practices among young learners.
