Poem for Constitution Day by Ovee Tulaskar STD IX B

A New Dawn

The mighty ships covered the horizon,
Dripping with riches from all around,
But what they hid were deaths, captivity and many a canon.
We didn’t foresee that the traders would surround,
And eat away our precious lands,
Draining the wealth and power we had forged,
In the scorching fire of time by millions of hands,
But our people rose and won back our freedom on which they had so readily gorged.

So this is a story of a new dawn,
Based on the foundations of unity and equality,
The circle of peace into which the world was drawn.
On this day we became a whole, every state, town and city,
Enjoying rights while doing our duty,
Reaching new heights and breaking the boundary ,
India was ours in all its glory and beauty,
In the end it’s all about the people who fought and hoped for a bright future of our country.
